Finding New Strength

Do you feel as if you can bear no more?

Have you crossed the threshold that marks the limit of your patience or endurance or love or forgiveness?

Are you drained of all strength, all will to continue?

Have you been given a task that is too much for you?

Is the mountain simply too high and steep?

Have you heard this hope?

Those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
He gives power to the weak, and strength to the powerless.

To those who do not know the everlasting God, Creator of the ends of the earth, this will seem like a foolish and futile hope. But as I search the words of my Father, this promise seems to pop up as frequently as the promise that He’ll always be with me.

Perhaps that’s because I so often need new strength. To my mind, that means more than just a refreshment of my own fortitude. It means strength beyond anything I’ve known before—straight from my Father, the everlasting Almighty, Creator of all the earth. His strength goes beyond my mortal willpower, fortitude, or endurance.

Does that sound incredible?

It is incredible.

And it’s a promise from the God who keeps His promises.

Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?

The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths
of His understanding.

He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.

Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.

But those who trust in the LORD will
find new strength.

They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

Ask, and you’ll receive, Jesus said. Seek, you’ll find. Those who trust in the Lord can go right to Him whenever we need new strength… and we’ll find it and receive it.
